Hi, I’m Sophie, the founder of Paw to Paw Pet Care – and a lifelong animal lover with a passion for both pets and wildlife.
Before launching my pet care business in 2024, I worked various jobs over the years, even three jobs at once to fund my dream: travelling the world to volunteer with animals. That journey took me to six countries, where I had the incredible opportunity to care for lions, jaguars, pandas, elephants, baboons, kangaroos, rhinos and so many more.. I’ve also trekked through the forests of Uganda and Rwanda to see wild gorillas, travelled to Romania to observe wild bears in their natural habitat, and most recently, returned from the icy wilderness of Antarctica after experiencing whales and penguins.
I was also a volunteer at Dartmoor Zoo, & worked at Devon Dogs, caring for crufts champions.
These experiences have deepened my understanding of animal behaviour, care, and the importance of building trust and respect with every creature I meet – lessons I bring into every walk, sit, and interaction with the pets I look after.
When you choose Paw to Paw, you're not just hiring a dog walker or sitter – you're gaining a trusted partner in your pet’s happiness and a business that truly cares about animals, people, and the planet.
At Paw to Paw Pet Care, my mission is simple: to treat every pet as if they were my own. I’m committed to providing reliable, loving, and tailored care that enriches your pet’s day and gives you peace of mind. Whether it’s a walk in the woods, a calm companion at home, or a special outing, I believe in creating positive, fear-free experiences that support both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Paw to Paw is more than a pet care service – it’s part of a growing, caring community. I believe in supporting local, building strong relationships with pet owners, and contributing positively to the neighbourhoods we serve. Where we can, we will always shop small and local, give back to local animal charities and join community events.
We are passionate about running the business as sustainably as possible, choosing eco-friendly products, minimising waste, and doing what I can to protect the natural spaces our pets love to explore. From biodegradable poo bags to refillable hand wash, we're helping our planet, and leaving only paw prints behind.
Rocket (or you'll most likely know him as Rocky, but to me he's Rockily, Rocky Road or Sausage) is the face of Paw to Paw and my baby (Yes I believe I went through 9 months of pregnancy, labour and birthed him.)
Rocky is actually a very nervous dog, and has separation anxiety. We've spent the last two years building up his confidence and his ability to be left alone. He still isn't a big fan of people (me either, hence the job!) and didn't used to like other dogs, but since starting the business and taking him out on lots of adventures with them, he has made some great doggy friends, and gets so excited to see them! We even had 7 of his walk friends attend his birthday paw-ty!
We started doing Mantrailing/Scent Work which has built his confidence even more, going from not wanting to follow just Katie, the amazing trainer, to searching for random people he's never met before. He completed his Level 1 Rural Mini League trail last month.
If you have a nervous dog and want to start socialising them, Rocky is great for these type of dogs, as he will not bother them, gives them plenty of space and patience as they learn to warm up to him.
